What are the Drop-off and Pick-Up procedures at the middle school?

What are the start and end times at JMS?
- The school doors open at 7:00 a.m.
- Students arriving before 7:30 a.m. are to sit in the cafeteria.
- When the 7:30 bell rings, students go to either the new gym or the old gym.
- The first bell rings at 7:45 to dismiss students from the gyms to their classrooms.
- The bell to go to the first block of the day rings at 8:02. Students arriving in the classroom any time after 8:06 will be counted tardy.
- The dismissal bell rings at 3:06 p.m. All bus students and first-round car riders are dismissed at this time. Second-round car riders will be dismissed once the first-round cars are loaded.
- Walkers and bike riders will be released from the building at 3:15 under teacher supervision.

Do middle school students receive Chromebooks?
The Jackson R2 School District is committed to ensuring equitable access to technology for all students. As part of this commitment, all middle school students will receive a Chromebook and a Chromebook case.
Students will be responsible for the device and will be required to carry it with them to and from school and take it with them to every class. For this reason, we encourage all parents to purchase the Chromebook Insurance.

What are the dates and times for the middle school Back-to-School registration days?
JMS is happy to welcome all students and parents/guardians to our Back-to-School registration days! These are:
- 5th Grade: August 9th from 8:00-11:00 a.m. and again from 12:00-3:00 p.m.
- 6th Grade: August 10th from 8:00-11:00 a.m. and again from 12:00-3:00 p.m.
*We will be organizing more specific times based on homeroom teachers in regards to the morning or afternoon session. That information will be sent to families as soon as schedules are finalized.
*This will be an open house format, so the time your child’s homeroom teacher is scheduled to be here will determine whether your time will be in the morning or the afternoon.

At JMS, 5th and 6th graders will have lunch and recess together.
Your child's lunch will depend on the teacher they have during the following times and days:
- On red days it is their 5th hour teacher,
- On black days it is their 6th hour teacher
- On green days it is their 4th hour teacher.
